Education

The City of Canton is served by the Canton Independent School District. Classified as a 3A school district by the University Interscholastic League, Canton ISD ensures that every student has access to a meaningful, high-quality education and the support they need to succeed. Many students are active in debate and not only excel in that but in many other areas of UIL events. CISD also boasts a top-rated band that claimed First Place in State three consecutive years and were invited to several European countries to perform. The cross country track won State championship two years. Canton athletics include football, girl’s volleyball, cross country, basketball, power lifting, track and field, golf, tennis, softball and baseball.

Elementary campus facilities were constructed in 1976. High School facilities were constructed in 1989. A state-of-the-art Fine Arts auditorium, additional classrooms and athletic facilities were added in 2004. Intermediate campus facilities were constructed in 2001. The Junior High campus was completed in 2005.
